The San Francisco Giants have locked up their hometown and homegrown star.
The Giants on Friday morning announced they’ve agreed to terms on a five-year, $90 million contract extension with star pitcher Logan Webb, which will keep their ace in San Francisco through at least 2028.
Webb, 26, is still playing under his rookie deal and wasn’t due to become a free agent until 2026. The new contract will kick in starting in 2024.
The right-hander has emerged as one of the top pitchers in baseball in recent years and arguably the Giants’ most dynamic star of the current era.
He'll also continue pitching in Northern California, where he has spent his entire life. Webb was born and raised in Rocklin before the Giants drafted him in the fourth round of the 2014 draft out of Rocklin High School. He debuted in 2019 and broke out in 2021, anchoring the Giants’ pitching staff during their record-setting 107 win season.
Webb has been the Giants’ Opening Day starting pitchers each of the last two seasons. Last year he went 15-9, the most wins by a Giant since 2016, and finished with a 2.90 ERA, the seventh best mark in the National League.
